Choosing the right toothbrush can be a little challenging. The last time you learned anything on the subject was probably around 8 years old when your local dentist visited your school. No worries, we’ve done the research for you. Check out our tips below.
Do use soft bristles:
For most people, a soft rounded brush head is all you need. Go gentle on your teeth and gums. Studies show being too tough can cause sensitive teeth and no one needs that.
Do find the right toothbrush head:
Finding the right size head is important so you can reach to your back molars without it being too large or wide. A toothbrush that is comfortable to handle and feels comfortable while brushing every tooth is key to healthy oral hygiene.
Skip the cheap dollar store toothbrushes:
You want a reputable brand that has put the science behind the brush. Cheaper or super inexpensive toothbrushes may not be as effective in safety, comfort or performance. It may be tempting but they may be better suited for cleaning hard surfaces around the house.
Do try an electric toothbrush:
Studies show that both electric and manual toothbrushes can clean teeth the same, as long as you are using them both correctly. However, if you find yourself slacking on the amount of time and how well you are brushing with manual brushes, then it may be time to try a powered one. You may actually find it easier to use.
Do replace your toothbrush:
If you don’t remember the last time you’ve switched out brushes then it’s definitely time. Replace your toothbrush every 3 months to keep your oral hygiene at its best.
Happy brushing!
